what do you teach? I just realized I have no clue what subject you teach and at what level. I just assumed at the college level and probably political science or sociology but it isn't nice to assume ;)

Darja's right....though it's more ESL these days....
what language do most of your students speak when they come to you? In Houston, most ESL classes were full of spanish speaking students. I didn't inherit my father's ability to learn languages. He speaks 6. I speak one and not very well at that.
Lots of Thais, Indian Punjabis, as well as Arabic speakers from Egypt and Jordan. Every college is different, depends on where the agents are pulling students from.....ours is quite a bit less heterogenous than some of the others with just three main groups in our ESL classes
