Read an article recently about the end of oil, the coming of peak oil, which is already here or at best just a few years off. Peak oil means that oil output reaches its peak and then starts to fall. We can't be too far off. Once that happens and demand continues to surge, we're all fucked, technically speaking. We'll have ourselves an economic crunch that will make the Great Depression look like a minor hiccough. But at least the environment will be better off. Global warming will slow down. It's probably a good thing that the oil is actually running out now that all the glaciers are melting because otherwise we'd all be fucked, technically speaking and we'd be in for a round of apparently natural but man made disasters that would make WWII look like a minor bloodletting.
