The road led to a flat high plain covered in patchy snow, just behind the peaks. I didn't stop to think how odd it was that there should be a road leading straight out of the ski area. There were some rustic looking houses and then the view opened up to reveal a vast lake, but it looked more like a sea level lake than a high mountain lake. Beside the lake there was a town, whose streets were flooded as the tide from the lake had risen as a result of being fed by the melting snow.
